Hendersonville Medical Center Offers Childbirth Preparation Series, “Labor of Love”

Hendersonville, TN (May 4, 2007) - It is not unusual to feel apprehensive about the actual birthing process and to wonder what is really going to happen the day of your delivery. Getting education during your pregnancy can serve as a tool to help you prepare for that day. Some women are concerned that they will have no control over their labor and delivery, but with education you will feel much more confident and in control when the actual time arrives!

Hendersonville Medical Center’s Labor of Love Childbirth Preparation Series is just what you need to get ready for the big day.  A four-part evening series will take place from 7:00 to 9:15 p.m. on consecutive Monday evenings beginning May 21.  The series will be held in the Learning Resource Center.

The program works on the philosophy that a woman should feel confident in her body's ability to give birth.  Designed for parents in the last trimester of pregnancy, this class discusses fetal development, physical and emotional changes during pregnancy and what to expect during labor and delivery.  The class also covers relaxation and body awareness techniques, Cesarean births and breast and bottle-feeding.   

While a first-time mother may wish to complete the entire four-week program, a woman who has already undergone a childbirth experience may only wish to refresh herself on a portion of the program which is available.
